SAM talks: Raafat Ishak

Join one of Australia’s most significant contemporary artists, Raafat Ishak, and SAM Artistic Director Danny Lacy for an evening conversation event exploring Ishak’s artistic career and the inspirations behind his 2026 Furphy Family Art Wall installation at SAM.

Aleisa Miksad: Pareidolia

In the new showcase, Pareidolia, local artist Aleisa Miksad’s intricate ceramic vessels take inspiration from Rorschach inkblot tests to invite audience interpretation and prompt reflection on the unconscious mind.

Nyini Woka: My Place

Nyini Woka: My Place brings together artworks from the Carrillo and Ziyin Gantner Indigenous Art Collection and recent works by contemporary Yorta Yorta artists to reveal shared threads of belonging, resistance, humour, memory and strength, extending an invitation to visitors to consider what it means to be here today on Yorta Yorta Country and beyond.

Fran O’Neill: On the Move

Cheshunt-based artist Fran O’Neill’s presents a series of large-scale abstract paintings for her SAM Selects exhibition ‘On the Move’ in the SAM Community Gallery, where physical process, colour and gesture come together in powerful visual encounters

Rafaat Ishak: Sherbourne Bear at Tallygaroopna

Working across painting, sculpture and installation, Raafat Ishak is highly regarded as one of Australia’s most significant contemporary artists. For his 2026 Furphy Family Art Wall commission, Ishak brings his abstractive style to the museum’s Level 4 for his siteresponsive wall painting.

Sam Soccer Acadamy: Presented by Tully Moore

Artist Tully Moore turns the SAM Children’s Gallery into a colourful World Cup Centre, celebrating Shepparton’s rich multicultural football heritage in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
