Led by acclaimed spoken word artist Fleassy Malay, this hands-on poetry workshop invited participants to discover playful and accessible approaches to creative writing.

Using found text, imaginative prompts and simple writing techniques, the workshop encouraged participants of all experience levels to experiment with poetry in a relaxed and supportive environment. By removing the pressure to write the "perfect" poem, Fleassy inspired participants to embrace curiosity, creativity and self-expression while developing practical tools to overcome writer's block and spark new ideas.

Filled with laughter, experimentation and shared creativity, the workshop challenged traditional perceptions of poetry and demonstrated that everyone has a story worth telling. It was an inspiring addition to the 2026 Shepparton Arts Festival program, leaving participants with new confidence and creative techniques they could continue to use long after the Festival.
