DANAË
An installation of thousands of plastic gold coins reimagines the myth of Danaë and Zeus. The work critiques how narratives of male authority and economic control continue to shape visibility, consent, and women’s autonomy today. A soft soundscape activates the otherwise static mass of coins, suggesting Danaë’s presence without supplying her for visual consumption. Her absence becomes a pointed critique of the objectification of women that has traditionally underpinned allegorical art.
