FESTIVAL FRIDGES

Inspired by the Coburg station Book Fridge, the Festival Art Fridges will be installed at three CBD locations. Each housing a different art form, the public will be able to ‘borrow’ from the Film Fridge (housing DVDs) a book fridge and music fridge for the duration of the Shepparton Festival. Locations: TBC. LANDSCAPE ART AT TALLIS

The Yorta Yorta Turtle Geoglyph returns to Tallis Wine. An impressive piece of landscape art (400m in diameter), will re-appear in the paddock next to Tallis Wine cellar door for the 2019 Shepparton Festival. Last seen in 2013, the giant long neck turtle is an important totem of the local Indigenous Yorta Yorta people and will be ploughed by winery owner Richard Tallis using GPS on his tractor. RETURNING TO LAND

“Returning to land” is a visual arts exhibition that tells a story about land use and landscape across the Goulburn Valley region. The work is displayed in a way that invites the viewer to interact and question their own stories about land and what value it holds for them. The Festival Wall is an exciting collaboration between the Shepparton Festival and accounting firm Stubbs Wallace and the students from secondary schools in Mooroopna and Shepparton. Asking students what does Shepparton mean to them, where has it come from and where is it going? What are the places, people and connections that are important? This temporary art space is where local and emerging artists can be supported, commissioned and curated as part of the Festival program.

‘Bass Bowl’ is a sculpture built in response to the 2019 Shepparton Festival theme of ‘Story Bowl’.
