May 18 @ 2:00 pm - August 5 @ 5:00 pm
Sharing stories: an exhibition of words, images, and ephemera by Goulburn Valley Writers Group, Jean-Michel Batakane, and Splinter Contemporary Artists.
Sharing Stories at Kyabram Town Hall Gallery will officially open on Saturday May 18 at 2pm. On show until August 5, this exhibition features new literary and photographic works made during and in response to two community art activities staged by Splinter Contemporary Artists at Converge on the Goulburn, 2019.
Weaving our stories together and Stories through clay were free community art activities designed and delivered by members of Splinter Contemporary Artists and enthusiastically taken up by individuals during the Converge event on March 16.
Participants wove coloured lengths of fabric and yarn through suspended Murray Cray pots and transformed balls of clay into bird forms. Both opportunities elicited art-making and story-sharing by members of the community – each small act contributing to a larger outcome of art, understanding, and connection.
Members of GVWG and Jean-Michel Batakane were invited to witness and respond to these activities, creating new works in their chosen art forms to be exhibited alongside the woven forms in Sharing stories.
The opening is on Saturday May 18 at 2pm.
